The Three Strands of Church Security™ Methodology

The Three Strands of Church Security is a methodology whereby a church of any size can benchmark, plan, develop and deploy a working security and safety program. It has been refined for over a decade in churches both large and small.

Notice I don't say "plan". We aren't after a piece of paper which we can point to and say - "We got that taken care of!" We are after a program that will use a plan to take action given a circumstance. This involves weaving several elements together to make a strong cord, thereby protecting our church family.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 - Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. (NIV)

It is upon such scripture that we have based and developed our methodology for church security programs.

Strand One | Policy and procedure – This is the base layer upon which all other strands are dependent. This strand consists of the written documentation of policies which describes the course or principle of action adopted or proposed by the church's management.

Strand Two | Human Resources – The people; be they staff, employees, volunteers, contractors or public servants. Ushers, Greeters, Parkers, preschool workers and the Security team; they all have a role in the overall security and safety of the church. They are the people that carry out the policies and procedures embodied in strand one.

Strand Three –|Tech and Tools – This strand consists of technology and tools that we give our Strand Two (the people) to make them more Efficient and Effective in carrying out Strand One (policies and procedures). A typical example would be handheld walkie-talkies to facilitate communications between various ministries.
