The Real History of the Crusades

Posted by Charles "Chuck" Chadwick, Jr. on

News from the desk of Chuck Chadwick

The ISIS threat is on everyone's mind and will be addressed in detail by Chuck Chadwick and possibly the Department of Homeland Security at the conference. We are still awaiting confirmation on the DHS speaker.

I have done and am continuing to do in-depth research into ISIS and their methods and madness to assess the threat. One threat that we are trying to confirm is the threat to our religious leaders. Several sources have indicated that ISIS leaders have called for strikes against our pastors but we have yet to confirm this report.

It certainly make sense that they would try to harm our religious leaders due to the fact that the persons that are our high value targets are mostly their radical spiritual leaders.

Part of my research is to understand the parts of the issues. One of the parts is the historical facts behind the so called Crusades. In an article by Thomas F. Madden, published in Christianity Today in 2005, Madden traces the real history of the crusades. It is a lengthy article but shines a light on real history of the conflict.

The Real History of the Crusades published in Christianity Today- by Thomas F. Madden / May 6, 2005

Excerpts -

A series of holy wars against Islam led by power-mad popes and fought by religious fanatics? Think again.

Doesn't the present violence, they persisted, have its roots in the Crusades' brutal and unprovoked attacks against a sophisticated and tolerant Muslim world? In other words, aren't the Crusades really to blame?

So what is the truth about the Crusades? Scholars are still working some of that out. But much can already be said with certainty. For starters, the Crusades to the East were in every way defensive wars. They were a direct response to Muslim aggressionan attempt to turn back or defend against Muslim conquests of Christian lands.

So what is this new ISIS threat?

A recent article by Graeme Wood published in the March 2015 issue of The Atlantic magazine presents an in-depth view of the ISIS.

Our next newsletter will delve further into ISIS and its threat to us as Christians.

Point of View by Chuck Chadwick

I recently received an email from a church asking about developing some policies and procedures (P&P). In the letter the person commented that we seemed to favor an armed presences and that because they had not had any incidents they didn't think that their church was ready to "go that direction". I wrote him back only to say that we would be happy to help but that what was the use of policies and procedures if they didn't help you defend your people. P&Ps are just written words that say how you are going to react to an incident. I quit really caring about somebody pilfering the offering or how to do a fire evacuation long ago. I also quit trying to convince churches that they need to have trained people on the scene capable of stopping the armed mad man or terrorist. I leave it to the press to do that. There is plenty out there to convince them. Once they come to the realization that a procedure to call 911 only invites the cops to come take the report, then they can call us to help them put real people in place to mitigate the situation as best they can. Is it all about concealed handguns? No, it's about carbines (AR15s) and shotguns and rifle plate carriers and gunshot wound trauma care kits too. Do you really think that when two or three ISIS jihadist run into your sanctuary with AK47s that your policies and procedures or pepper spray is going to do anything to stop them?

I invite you to take a look (violent and graphic content warning) at the latest ISIS propaganda magazine to make you feel warm and fluffy about not facing the reality of the coming troubled days. You can download it at the following link.
